Rene Bollier, MD

Family Physician

Dr. Rene Bollier is a family physician who was born and raised in the Kansas City area. He grew up in Prairie Village, Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School. During his school years, Dr. Bollier was active in scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Dr. Bollier graduated from Kansas State University in 1980 and earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas in 1984. He and his wife, Barbara, lived in Houston, Texas, from July 1984 until June 1987, while completing their medical residency training at Baylor College of Medicine. The Bollier's then moved back to Kansas City with Dr. Barbara practicing anesthesiology and Dr. Rene, family medicine.

Dr. Bollier values the relationships he has had with his patients and colleagues over the years. He has been active with the medical staff at St. Joseph Medical Center since 1987, serving as medical staff president from 2017 to 2018. Dr. Bollier is compassionate, hard-working, and is recognized by his peers and patients as a very capable physician. His hobbies include hiking, skiing, fishing, yard work, and taking long walks.

Dr. Bollier has a wonderful family. Dr. Barbara Bollier is a Kansas Senator who serves the state with skill and integrity. Their daughter, Anne-Marie, completed her master’s degree in public health and is an accomplished artist currently residing in Melbourne, Australia. Their son, Robert, is currently in law school in Washington, DC.

Nora Gomez, MD

Family Physician

Dr. Nora P. Gomez is a board-certified Family Physician and has been a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine since 1999. She has been in private practice in the Kansas City area for the past 18 years, and she proudly joined the St. Joseph Family Medical Care Clinic in 2014.

Dr. Gomez completed her combined BA/MD at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She then completed her Family Medicine residency training at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, (a suburb of Chicago) alongside her husband who is also a physician. They then returned to her hometown of Overland Park, Kansas, and have been busy raising their children and caring for their patients. Dr. Gomez values providing comprehensive, compassionate care for her patients while also promoting health wellness and disease prevention. She also has taken interest in providing added aesthetic medical services.

Dr. Gomez is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the International Association of Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine. She serves on the St. Joseph Medical Center Medical Executive Committee as Chairperson of the Family Medicine Department.

In her free time, Dr. Gomez enjoys spending time with her family. Having two busy teenagers, the best times are now the evenings when everyone is home and just relaxing or watching movies together. Also, she enjoys attending sports events, especially supporting the Kansas City Royals!

Mary Ryan, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Mary E. Ryan received her undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University in 1978, and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas in 1995. She received a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2012 from the University of Kansas, and is certified in Family Practice by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Dr. Ryan has a special interest in Rheumatology, completing advanced rheumatology coursework with the American College of Rheumatology and the University of Kansas, and worked previously in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology as well as research as a sub investigator for clinical trials. She has been affiliated with St. Joseph Medical Center since 1980, and in practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner since 1995.

Dr. Ryan is a speaker on a variety of healthcare topics and presents across the country for physician and nursing continuing education events as well as seminars and special topics. She provides educational seminars to rural areas in Kansas in affiliation with the Area Health Education Committee with the University of Kansas. In addition, Dr. Ryan is on the medical advisory board for “Arthritis Today” magazine, and is on the Resident Advisory Committee for Tallgrass Retirement Community in Overland Park, KS. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Practitioners and the American College of Rheumatology Allied Health Providers.

Dr. Ryan and her husband have four adult children and enjoy sports including running, swimming, reading, and chasing after grandchildren.
